It’s time to plan ahead: overseas Model A tours require some forward thought – as well as a little flexibility!
The following is a rough description of our tentative itinerary which includes Machupeland, the Lakes District, Lago Villarricca and the Andes mountains. We plan to spend an entire weekend in San Carlos de Bariloche (Argentina) as well as a weekend in or near Concepción (Chile). These weekends remain open for now in the hope that a meeting with Chilean and/or Argentinian cars will materialize.
We estimate the cost of this tour for two people (double occupancy) and shipping one car to and from the port of San Vicente (near Concepción, Chile) to be $16,000, not including your airfare, travel insurance or any extra liability insurance you may want for travel in South America. The tour costs can be split into three payments.
Here are the bare bones of our current plan:
Days 1 and 2 (Oct. 4-5) will be spent in Concepción, Chile, and we’ll pick up the cars on the second day.
Day 3: (Oct. 6): 150 km to Los Angeles, Chile
Days 4 and 5 (Oct. 7-8) will be spent in Temuco, Chile, with an introduction to the Machupe, an indigenous people.

Save the date – and register ASAP. Logistics require us to limit the number of participants and we’re preparing advertisements for MAFCA and MARC right now. If the tour has not filled up with MATC members by August 1, 2019, we will accept registrations from other Model A owners. Any questions? Contact Jay or Pat Burbank at firstname.lastname@example.org.
