Gold Rush Tour – September 5 – 20, 2017

gold chain tourThe MATC 2017 “Gold Rush Tour” will take you down the Golden Chain Highway from Hallelujah Junction at the top to Oakhurst at the Bottom.  You’ll tour such places as the Empire Mine, the Bourn Cottage, and the Gold Bug Mine. We’ll ride the old No. 3 Steam train in Jamestown and shop at the oldest continually operated Northern California hardware store in Hangtown. Along the way we will stop at the Black Chasm Cavern and the Moaning Cavern to experience some geological wonders.

The Gold Rush Tour will be begin and end in Sparks Nevada at the Nugget Casino & Resort.  It will be a mostly self-guided tour with an assortment of fun and interesting stops along the GOLDEN CHAIN HIGHWAY (Highway 49).

The price for this 15 day tour is $1050 per couple. It includes the following:

  • Welcome Dinner in Sparks, NV (place TBD)
  • Empire Mine & Bourn cottage Tour with Lunch
  • North Star Historic Conservancy Tour with Lunch
  • Gold Bug Mine Tour
  • Kennedy Gold Mine Tour
  • Dinner at the Historic Murphy Hotel
  • Steam Train Ride on the Old No. 3 (This train was last seen in Back to the Future 3)
  • Preston Castle tour (tentative)
  • End of Tour Dinner at the Nugget Casino & Resort
