Today was a travel day.  There was quite a distance from Mitchell to our next destination of Wall, and the weather forecast predicted a hot day. We expected boring. Not so. Instead of heat, we got fog.  And instead of dull, we got delightful. The country roads in the light fog are perfect for Model … Continue reading Day 12 Mitchell to Wall

We'll get back to our tour journal with days 11, 12, and the conclusion of the MATC South Dakota Black Hills Tour in the coming days when we have a consistent internet connection. For now, here's a reprint from an article about our tour from Watertown's newspaper , the Public Opinion. It's always nice for … Continue reading Day 10 Part 2 (Newspaper Article)

Model A Touring Club's History

The Model A Touring Club began in 1999 with a mission to “go places in Model A Fords”. Founding members saw to it that going places did not mean driving to local destinations. Their vision was to see the world in Model A Fords.

Through the years, the club organized tours to 3 continents, 18 countries, 32 US states, and 6 Canadian provinces. The fall 2024 USCAN tour was the club's final tour. Although the club is no longer actively planning new tours, our enthusiasm for driving our Model A's to interesting destinations continues.

We hope you enjoy browsing through our assorted blog posts that detail our adventures. Thank you for visiting.

About the Model A Ford

The Ford Model A was in production from 1928 - 1931. It was the second huge success for the Ford Motor Company, the Ford Model T being its first.

The 1928 release of the Model A introduced all new models, colors and features as opposed to the black only Model T. These features included a three speed sliding gear transmission 40 HP engine, four wheel brake system and hydraulic shock absorbers. The original prices ran from around $500 to $1200 dollars. Sales were very strong but as with all companies, the Depression had a major impact. For the four years of production Ford produced over 4 million Model A's.

The Model A was replaced in 1932 with the Model B and Model 18 which had Ford's new V-8 engine.

Today it is estimated that there are over 250,000 Model A's still in use today.
