May 16th we left Roseburg to head to Crater Lake – and saw many beautiful sights along the way.  One of the first was Colliding Rivers ion Glide, on  Hwy. 128: Toketee Falls was a big hit for us; the wooden culvert had significant leaks which provided entertainment in the parking lot: Then there was a pretty good … Continue reading Roseburg to Crater Lake

It DID finally stop raining in Quinault, and here’s the proof: Leaving the park, someone caught sight of this herd of elk: On Friday the 13th, we navigated to Seaside, OR.  Saturday morning, we all stopped at Billy’s for breakfast. Nearby we found a restored gas station, and of course we couldn’t resist photos with the … Continue reading From Quinault Lake, WA, to Seaside, Or.

Day 16 (October 15, 2021): Kanab, Utah, to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, Arizona; approximately 79 miles. Wow!  This is the final day of the tour already.  How did we manage to pack so much fun into just 16 days?  It’s mainly thanks to Marcus and Mary, who organized everything with a fine eye to details. Today’s … Continue reading The GRAND Finale

Day 15 (October 14, 2021): Bryce Canyon City to Kanab, Utah, approximately 79 miles. Some of our hardier souls got up early enough to visit Cedar Breaks National Monument and even up to the top of Brian’s Head Peak (over 11,300 feet in altitude!)   Others of us decided we’d had enough of the altitude, so we … Continue reading Winding Down…

Day 12 (October 11, 2021): Moab to Monument Valley, Utah, approximately 149 miles. We drove a little ways north to see Arches National Park, however the park limits the number of visitors, and by the time we arrived it was already full and we turned around to head south.   Our first major photo op was at … Continue reading Highlights from Utah

Heading Back Toward Utah

Day 10 (October 9, 2021): Manitou Springs to Montrose Colorado, approximately 186 miles. The past two days were tour highlights, but we had another special event this morning – crossing the Royal Gorge Bridge.  This bridge has been closed to vehicular traffic for several years, but our fearless tour leader Marcus was able to get a permit … Continue reading Heading Back Toward Utah

Model A Touring Club's History

The Model A Touring Club began in 1999 with a mission to “go places in Model A Fords”. Founding members saw to it that going places did not mean driving to local destinations. Their vision was to see the world in Model A Fords.

Through the years, the club organized tours to 3 continents, 18 countries, 32 US states, and 6 Canadian provinces. The fall 2024 USCAN tour was the club's final tour. Although the club is no longer actively planning new tours, our enthusiasm for driving our Model A's to interesting destinations continues.

We hope you enjoy browsing through our assorted blog posts that detail our adventures. Thank you for visiting.

About the Model A Ford

The Ford Model A was in production from 1928 - 1931. It was the second huge success for the Ford Motor Company, the Ford Model T being its first.

The 1928 release of the Model A introduced all new models, colors and features as opposed to the black only Model T. These features included a three speed sliding gear transmission 40 HP engine, four wheel brake system and hydraulic shock absorbers. The original prices ran from around $500 to $1200 dollars. Sales were very strong but as with all companies, the Depression had a major impact. For the four years of production Ford produced over 4 million Model A's.

The Model A was replaced in 1932 with the Model B and Model 18 which had Ford's new V-8 engine.

Today it is estimated that there are over 250,000 Model A's still in use today.
